  • The operation responds to the strategic commitment of the Spanish multinational MAT Holding, led by Pau Relat, to diversify its portfolio of biorational phytosanitary products.
  • The agreement includes operational continuity of the factory with guaranteed employment for a year and a half from the date of the transfer, which will be completed on June 1, 2024

Valencia, 3rd July de 2023
– MAT Holding and Bayer have reached an agreement under which the German multinational will transfer its crop protection products factory, located in the Valencian town of Quart de Poblet, to Indústries Químiques del Vallès (IQV), a plant health company belonging to the Spanish group MAT Holding, led by Pau Relat, leader in solutions for agriculture and water.

The plant, which began its activity in 1971, employs nearly a hundred people, some directly and indirectly involved in production and others from different areas of the company that Bayer will relocate.

The centre has significant capabilities and good facilities which, due to market changes and Bayer’s strategic focus, are currently not being used to their full potential. For this reason, the German multinational transfers the Quart de Poblet factory, with all assets and staff, to the IQV company.

The operation responds to IQV’s strategic commitment to diversify its phytosanitary solutions, including biorationals ─similar and functionally identical natural or synthetic substances used in crop protection that have a low impact on the environment and human health─, and to increase production capacity.

With this acquisition, IQV consolidates its position in the field of plant health as a supplier to the main multinationals in the sector, while strengthening its commitment to the Valencian territory, where the Spanish multinational has a formulation and packaging plant in Cheste.

The agreement between Bayer and MAT Holding foresees the transfer of the factory in June 2024, along with the continuity of the plant’s operations and the guarantee of employment for the workers for a year and a half from the date of transfer. Until then, Bayer will continue to own the centre and work with IQV on the transition
